COWAL & BUTE HOSPITAL
£23,113 - £29,905
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Registered Nurse post within the Inpatient Service departments and Community Nursing Team based at Cowal Community Hospital. The post will be rotational, consisting of six months in the wards in the hospital, six months in the Casualty department and six months in the community.
Cowal Community Hospital is situated on the Cowal Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland. It is a Community Hospital within a bustling town and serves the outlying rural villages on the peninsula. Inpatient services consist of an 8 bedded GP acute ward which cares for acute admissions, a 6 bedded Hospice & Supported Care ward. The Community Casualty department is located on the ground floor at the front of the hospital where the successful candidates would gain experience in this area of nursing. There is also a busy Outpatient department with visiting consultants from a range of specialties. Rehabilitation services from the multi-disciplinary teams are also provided as are Day care services to provide adjunct therapies including a Day Hospice Centre, etc.
The Community Nursing Team provides care and caseload management adopting a clinically effective approach to all areas of practice. Care is delivered throughout the peninsula using a holistic approach to assess, identify and prioritise health needs within the home environment and wider community setting in conjunction with the wider primary health care team and colleagues within the Health and Social Care Partnership.
A co-ordinated approach to prevention of admission and successful hospital discharge is taken which includes user involvement in service planning and delivery. Skilled clinical interventions and health education and promotion are provided to maintain optimum independent living in the community.
Cowal affords great opportunities for excellent work/life balance. Outdoor pursuits are available with local organised events and there are great cycling and kayaking conditions on the doorstep. The islands of Bute, Islay, Gigha, Arran and Jura are easily accessible with a good ferry service. Glasgow is one and a half hours away with a regular ferry & train service.
