We are looking for a Rural Practitioner for our innovative team of acute rural generalists.

As a member of our Rural Practitioner team, you will be based in MacKinnon Memorial Hospital, in Broadford on the Isle of Skye, eight miles from the Skye Bridge. Your work will be an exciting amalgamation of all your previous experience, in a magnificent rural setting. You will be involved in running a unique Community Hospital, caring for admissions from across Skye, Lochalsh and South West Ross, and managing the Emergency Department and GP OOH caseload. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team throughout the 168 hours of the week, covering Mackinnon Memorial Hospital and Portree Hospital in conjunction with GP colleagues and nursing and paramedic staff.

Full time working is 40 hours per week, on a shift system, involving a mixture of out of hours and daytime work. Accreditation in General Practice or Emergency Medicine is required, and prior experience in anaesthetics and inpatient care would be advantageous; training will be provided by attachment to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness and other hospitals as required.

Your skills will be augmented and updated by two weeks' Anaesthetic/Airway Management experience and two weeks of other Acute Hospital experience annually. You will not be required to provide elective anaesthesia, but will use your skills regularly in a resuscitation / evacuation capacity. A relocation package is available with local assistance in finding suitable accommodation.
