Ideally we require HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team providing a high quality Cellular Pathology service for NHS Highland. However candidates with an IBMS Registration Portfolio/Certificate of Competence assessment date pending or candidates working towards HCPC registration may be considered, and successful candidates will be given the opportunity to complete the Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology. The post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
The department is well-equipped, and offers experience in all aspects of routine histology, including diagnostic non-gynaecological cytology, frozen sections and immunohistochemistry using the Leica Bond III system. This role will include specimen dissection, renal biopsy collection and Andrology. The work is also of high complexity due to the unique location of the hospital handling specimens from a very wide geographic area including the Western Isles. The department handles over 17,000 requests per annum and 24,000 specimens. The busy immunocytochemistry section handles over 16,000 requests per annum using a wide range of antibodies.
