BAND 6 OR POTENTIAL TRAINEE BAND 5 (ANNEX 21)
An opportunity has arisen within the biochemistry laboratory for an experienced HCPC registered biomedical scientist. Candidates will be enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated and innovative, with good organisational skills and well developed communication skills. If you have a degree or equivalent in Biomedical sciences, are HCPC registered and have an IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent experience in biochemistry, we want to hear from you.
Applicants must be HCPC registered. BMS (Band 5) applicants may apply, however if they have not completed the IBMS specialist portfolio then Annex 21 will be applied until completion. Specialist diploma will be supported in post.
A post with Annex 21 applied is paid a percentage of the fully qualified rate during the period of training as follows:- Year 1: 65% of the pay band maximum; Year 2: 70% of the pay band maximum, Year 3: 75% of the pay band maximum.

The laboratory is working towards UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation. You will support the lead scientist in biochemistry. You will be expected to rotate within haematology, blood transfusion and sample reception and participate in the on call out of hours system. You will be assisting in the updating and formation of procedures and proceses, working with the team both in Oban and Raigmore to bring the laboratory in line with UKAS ISO 15189 standards.
