Women & Childrens Directorate - Paediatrics (Raig) ,Raigmore Hospital

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to support the provision of psychiatric care of a high standard to patients attending Highlands Child and Adolescent Mental Health team. This is a new post, which will work under the supervision of the two existing full time CAMHS consultant psychiatrists. The service has undergone considerable development over the last two years with the extension of our Intensive Outreach Team and therapeutic services to recognise the importance of supporting children and families in the community and minimising the disruption that accompanies an inpatient admission.

The post-holder will benefit from working with multidisciplinary colleagues within the CAMHS team and provide support to the multidisciplinary team, comprising psychiatry, nursing, psychology and allied therapeutic professions.

The team is based primarily at the Phoenix Centre in Inverness and it is envisaged that the Speciality Doctor will focus primarily on the outpatient assessment, treatment and monitoring of young people there, but our community model includes home visits throughout Highlands where appropriate, and the provision of some locality clinics in Skye, Fort William and Caithness.

Inpatient beds are available at Dudhope Young Peoples Unit in Tayside when needed. There will be encouragement to engage in quality improvement activity throughout the service.

The base hospital is Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. The Phoenix Centre is an outlying building with dedicated clinical and office space with CAMHS, Community Paediatrics and other supporting services working in close proximity. We have close links with Children's Ward
